Are you tired of feeling frozen?
You’ve been stuck in trauma brain. Or anxiety spirals. Or a rut of depression.
Insight doesn’t seem to be enough. Coping skills get you through some of the hard moments, but that doesn’t change the big picture.
There’s more going on than the thoughts that cycle over and over, the feelings you can’t escape, the physical troubles you don’t understand. There’s a deep stuckness in your nervous system.
In Brainspotting therapy, you don’t need the right words (or any words!) to process what you’re holding. Instead, healing comes from presence and gentle body awareness. This is what somatic therapy is about: letting your body’s knowledge guide you.
Help the nervous system move toward healing.
When you go through something scary and out of your control, your nervous system may get stuck in survival mode. You never got a chance to escape or process what happened to you.
Tapping into the parts of your brain where pain, fear, stress, and grief live helps your brain AND body understand that what happened then is no longer happening now.
Finding the right visual spot and then being radically present with your felt sense can accomplish this. By connecting directly to the regions of the brain that govern emotion and memory, the brain can metabolize your distress. New neural pathways form. The nervous system’s alarm starts to quiet.
Experience more capacity, resilience, and presence.
This type of somatic therapy is great for trauma, but it’s not just for trauma. Recurring depression or anxiety, relational patterns you can’t seem to disrupt, even creative challenges all benefit.
Whatever is cut off from the rest of your experience, this practice can help bring you into wholeness.
Brainspotting therapy offers deep changes that happen so gently you might not notice them right away. Relief as your body stops bracing so hard. Subtle shifts in the way you relate to your friends or partners. Less overwhelm around strong emotions.
Over time, you’ll find your capacity to be with yourself through suffering is greater. You’ll have more space and choice in managing the challenges you face. Connection with self and others will hold more care and trust. Tapping into your inner strengths will be easier.
Face your pain with support.
Brainspotting sessions are remarkably simple. You’ll be asked to choose something to focus on, then notice how your body is holding it—is there tightness in your jaw or chest, an empty feeling in your gut, clenching in your hands or feet?
Once we find the eye position that resonates with what you’re experiencing, I’ll ask you to just notice that experience. And I’ll stay with you.
You can speak as little or as much as you want to. I won’t direct you to focus on any one thing. Your system knows what it needs and will communicate to you in feelings, words, physical sensations, images, or any other way that makes sense.
I said simple, but that doesn’t mean easy. It’s scary to stay present with pain. I’m here to help you tolerate that fear and I trust that you’ll know if you’ve had enough. This is a truly client-led experience.
