Chronic Illness Therapy Group
Grief. Identity. Relationships. Medical trauma. Isolation. Internalized ableism.
A diagnosis of a chronic condition or disease, or any kind of change in ability, carries heavy psychological effects.
Disability shapes your life and changes your life. Too often, you’re going through it alone, surrounded by people who mean well but don’t understand, or people who don’t even want to understand.
In this group, we build a foundation of connection and witnessing so we can explore these areas with people who do get it. We will learn to resist ableist narratives about who we are and what we’re worth. We’ll explore ways to reduce the distress our disabilities cause.
The next group starts in January 2026, Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:45 pm (Central time), on Zoom. The group will run for 8 weeks, with the option to continue if folks would like to. I ask for an 8-week commitment to support group bonding.
Cost per meeting is $80, 60, or 40, based on the Green Bottle sliding scale model (see below).
