LGBTQIA2S+ Counseling

Shutterstock 781457584Society doesn’t understand you.

Neither does your family.

Some of your friends get it, but others just give you polite, dismissive smiles when you talk about your gender or sexuality.

What’s worse, society judges you.

You’re tired of all the stereotypes, hostility, and misinformation. Those ideas creep insidiously into your own thoughts, even as you try to ignore them.

You think you’re supposed to live a “normal” life, beholden to the escalator – get a career, a partner (but just one), a house, a kid (or a puppy) – that seems like it’s for straight people. But you really don’t see yourself in that plan.

You’re not abnormal, behind, or doing it wrong. You just want something different.

The internal questioning never ends.

Am I pan or queer? Do I really feel like a woman? Have I been wrong about who I am all this time?

There’s no one to talk through all your questions with.

It’s sort of exciting to think about the possibilities, but also scary to think about taking off your masks.

What will you find when you start digging?

Heteronormativity is wearing you down.

Maybe you’re just starting to understand what “queer” means to you. Maybe you’ve been on this journey for a long time.

Either way, you need space to talk about the traumas of living in a world not built for you. And everything else you have going on.

You’re not looking for LGBTQ-friendly. You’re looking for a queer therapist, period.

You want a therapist where you don’t have to explain your identity or avoid talking about important parts of yourself.

That’s me.

I know about queer life (and trans life and poly life and kinky life).

I may not know all about your specific identity – we’re pretty creative folks – but I will understand when you tell me.

I didn’t learn about our communities in books, but through living my life in them and learning from other folks doing the same.

Shutterstock 652750741You are a remarkable person.

Don’t believe me yet? That’s okay.

It’s time to quit listening to what unsupportive families and hostile social conditions say about you.

We’ll unpack the whole idea of normal and see just how limiting it is.

Get support from a therapist who gets it.

Together, we will create enough safety that taking a deeper look at yourself will be more exciting than it is scary.

You’ll stop believing what others tell you about who you are and start trusting your inner voice.

We’ll replace “normal” with your vision of a joyful life grounded in your true self and desires, whatever those are.

Reach out for a free consultation, and let’s explore the intricate layers of trauma and joy that shape queer existence – together.
